I think golf can be an expensive hobby - but it doesn’t have to be. You can get equipment quite cheaply - even at car boot sales and stuff to start you off.
The annual membership fee of most clubs isn’t too bad for juniors, and if you play lots of golf, it works out just the same cost as going swimming or to the cinema.
Golf should be available to all young people. However, the further you get on, the more expensive it becomes so I do think that having loadsa dosh helps! But then, it helps with every sport really!

yes i think that golf is a rich kids sport because someone with alot more money has more chance of having lessons with a good professional also can buy better equipment.

yes it is a rich kids sport because all the clubs cost too much putting people off and also membership fees are expensive.

Hi George, Membership fees differ from club to club, some can be expensive but others are less expensive so make sure you check around.

I don’t believe that golf is just for rich kids, kids with little money can play golf just as well. Its just getting started which is the hardest part for those with little money!!!!!!! rrrr

I think that golf is easier for the richer people because of the better equipment and lessons they can buy, although all golfers can enjoy the game to the full extent =D.

I believe to do well at this game the average golfer will need to put in roughly 60% of money into the game of golf the rest is pure talent, take a look at Tiger, when he was growing up he came from a working class background.

yeah golf is a rich kids game because they can afford lessons but the person has to have good ability even if they’re rich or not rich

The reason it is a rich kids sport is because the main brands put out clubs that cost 300 pounds and thats just for one club so when you need whole sets plus balls, it can cost way too much than parents want to spend if they don’t have the money.
